Jellinek, Adolf

(c. 1820-93)
   Austrian preacher and scholar. He was born in Moravia and moved to Prague in 1838. He was a rabbi in Leipzig from 1845, and in Vienna from 1856, where he became a famous preacher. He published studies of the history of the kabbalah and medieval Jewish philosophy, editions of smaller midrashim in his Bet ha-Midrash, and bibliographical booklets on medieval Jewish history and literature.
